Internship
Intern with Us!
Join The Policy Stack as a Legislative & Policy Intern to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of policy, media, and advocacy. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn the mechanics of modern lobbying while contributing to meaningful projects that shape public policy.
The Value to You
This is more than just an internship; it's a capstone experience for any student serious about a career in policy, law, or government affairs. As an intern with The Policy Stack, you will:
-
Gain Substantive, Real-World Experience: Move beyond the classroom and apply your academic knowledge to real-time legislative challenges. The research and analysis you produce will be used in actual lobbying campaigns.
-
Build a Professional Network: You'll work directly with experienced lobbyists and have opportunities to interact with legislative staff, industry leaders, and other policy professionals, building a valuable network for your future career.
-
Develop Critical Skills: Sharpen your research, writing, and analytical abilities in a fast-paced professional environment. You'll learn how to distill complex information into actionable intelligence—a skill essential for any policy or legal career.
-
Enhance Your Resume: An internship with a respected lobbying firm provides a significant advantage in the competitive job market for policy and legal positions after graduation.
-
What to Expect: This is an unpaid internship. Expect to work remote approximately 20 hours per week. Hours can be tailored to the needs of your graduation requirements. While a remote role is ideal for day-to-day, applicants in the Kansas City metro, Lawrence or Topeka will be offered at least one in-person experience either at the Capitol, or a policy related event.

We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented candidates who are rising juniors or seniors in college who are also currently enrolled in a public policy or law school program. A strong interest in state-level politics and excellent written communication skills are essential.
