A Client's First Time at the U.S. Capitol


There's a feeling you get seeing the U.S. Capitol dome for the first time. I love sharing that moment with clients. Their excitement reminds me why I got into this work in the first place. Visiting the U.S. Capitol isn’t just about history; it's a gut check on the ideals that are supposed to hold our country together.


Walking those halls takes me back to the summer of 2003. I was 23 years old, a bright-eyed intern who knew next to nothing about federal policy. That summer, I got a crash course in how the sausage really gets made. I watched legends like Ted Kennedy and John McCain work the floor. They knew that to get anything done, you had to find common ground, even with people you disagreed with.
